WASHINGTON — A delegation of Nevadans representing business, education, community organizations, small‑business and ethnic media took part in EducAsian, an advocacy program of the Asian Community Development Council and One APIA Nevada, gaining a direct look at how federal policy is shaped on Capitol Hill.

The visit came one day after the group attended the APAICS Legislative Leadership Summit, creating what participants described as a seamless continuation of their leadership training. Many said the back‑to‑back experience offered rare clarity on how national decisions connect to local communities.
Throughout the day, the Nevada cohort met with members and staff from the state’s congressional delegation, including offices of Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, Sen. Jacky Rosen, Rep. Dina Titus, Rep. Susie Lee and Rep. Steven Horsford. They observed legislative activity, learned how committees and constituent services operate, and discussed issues affecting Nevada’s Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities.
Key topics included affordability, small‑business challenges, immigration backlogs, health‑equity gaps, education pathways and the role of community‑based media in civic participation. Attendees said seeing their representatives and staff at work underscored the importance of direct advocacy and strengthened their understanding of how federal decisions shape everyday life in Nevada.

Participants returned home with what many called a renewed sense of purpose, carrying insights from their hands‑on experience in Washington. They said the program deepened their commitment to amplifying community voices and advancing advocacy efforts that reflect the needs and aspirations of Nevada’s AANHPI communities.
