Secretary Dante “Klink” Ang II Urges Filipino American Community to Strengthen Global Ties at NaFFAA Gala



AURORA, Colorado — Secretary Dante “Klink” Ang II of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) called on Filipino American leaders and community members to deepen their engagement with the global Filipino diaspora during Saturday night’s gala marking the conclusion of the National Federation of Filipino American Associations’ (NaFFAA) 2026 National Empowerment Conference.



Speaking before delegates gathered at the Hyatt Regency Aurora-Denver Conference Center, Ang underscored CFO’s mandate as a government partner for Non‑Resident Filipinos (NRFs)—Filipino citizens and former citizens living abroad, including immigrants, permanent residents, dual citizens, overseas workers, and students. He emphasized that CFO’s work centers on connecting the diaspora to the Philippines through programs on migration education, cultural preservation, policy coordination, and diaspora-driven development.


Ang said the Filipino diaspora’s growing influence across sectors in the United States makes partnerships with organizations like NaFFAA essential. He noted that NRFs contribute significantly to the Philippines not only through remittances but also through civic engagement, professional expertise, and transnational community-building.


He also invited attendees to participate in the Philippine Diaspora Summit scheduled for June next year, describing it as a major platform for global Filipinos to shape long-term strategies on migration, identity, and nation-building.

The gala capped two days of leadership workshops, policy discussions, and community dialogues under the conference theme “Harnessing the Power of Community: Starting With Us.” The event aimed to strengthen collaboration among Filipino American advocates, emerging leaders, and institutions working to expand representation and influence nationwide.


As the conference closed, Ang reiterated CFO’s commitment to ensuring that NRFs remain connected, empowered, and recognized as vital partners in the Philippines’ future.
