Philippine Philharmonic Associate Conductor Extends Support to FilAm Voices of Las Vegas Ahead of Upcoming Concert
LAS VEGAS — The growing presence of the FilAm Voices of Las Vegas (FAVoLAS) has received a noteworthy endorsement from Dr. Herminigildo Ranera, Associate Conductor of the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, lending added prestige to the Filipino-American community choir as it prepares for its upcoming concert.
As Associate Conductor of the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, the country's premier orchestra and resident symphony orchestra of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, Ranera's support carries significant weight within the Philippine music community. Published biographies have also identified Ranera as a faculty member of the University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music and conductor of the UST Symphony Orchestra and UST Wind Orchestra.
For FAVoLAS, the recognition serves as an affirmation of the group's continuing efforts to promote Filipino heritage and musical excellence in Southern Nevada. Founded to empower Filipino-American voices through music, the organization brings together singers and community members in celebration of culture, unity, and artistic expression.
The group's guiding principle, "One Community. One Voice.," reflects its commitment to fostering inclusion and cultural pride through choral performance. Over the past year, FAVoLAS has become a familiar presence at some of the Filipino community's most significant events.
The choir recently performed at Fiesta Filipino Nevada, one of the region's largest celebrations of Filipino culture, and participated in the milestone anniversary celebration of the official street sign unveiling of the Filipino Town Cultural District, helping commemorate a historic achievement for the Filipino-American community in Las Vegas.
These appearances have further established the group as a cultural ambassador, using music to connect generations, celebrate identity, and strengthen community bonds.
Building on that momentum, FAVoLAS is preparing for its upcoming concert, "Himig Pinoy Atbp.", scheduled for October 23 at St. Viator Catholic Church in Las Vegas. The event will showcase Filipino music and highlight the choir's mission of preserving and promoting Filipino culture through song.
As the organization continues to grow, support from a respected figure such as Ranera underscores the impact FAVoLAS is making not only within the Filipino-American community but also among advocates of Filipino music and the performing arts.
