FROM LYRICS TO LIGHT: Spreading Positivity Through Music [On The Dot with Dot and Mia]

On a recent episode of "On the Dot," co-hosts Dot and Mia brought listeners a truly special segment, featuring a group of friends who are more than just that—they’re "Fremily." This close-knit group is proving that harmony can still be found in a world of discord, not with a lecture or a political statement, but with a timeless anthem of unity: Michael Jackson's "Heal the World."

This isn't just a cover song; it’s a mission to reignite a sense of global community and compassion through the universal language of music. Recognizing the song’s enduring power, the Fremily team has given it new life by translating parts of the lyrics into Tagalog, Portuguese, and Spanish. This ensures their message of peace and love transcends cultural and linguistic barriers, showing that music truly knows no borders.

The discussion on the podcast episode focused into the "illness" of our world. Norman, a Fremily member, believes that while the world isn't inherently "bad," it's certainly in need of a dose of compassion and patience. Dot  pointed to a profound lack of kindness in society, suggesting it's a root cause for many of our most pressing problems. Mia also offered an introspective view, suggesting that people are often blinded by their own unhappiness, missing the beauty that surrounds them.

The group's collective insight is a powerful call to action: to not only see the good in others but to actively cultivate it within ourselves.

The creative journey behind this project was anything but simple. The Fremily team shared the challenges of a non-literal translation, where the rhythm of the music had to be meticulously matched with the emotional weight of the new lyrics. It was a painstaking process to ensure the true spirit of the song remained intact, a challenge that speaks to the group's dedication.

They're currently in the process of filming a full-scale music video, complete with professional singers and breathtaking drone shots, set to be released on social media.

Ultimately, this musical endeavor is more than just a creative project; it's a reflection of the Fremily's personal beliefs. The episode shared how some members rely on prayer for personal and political healing, emphasizing the need for forgiveness and reconciliation. At its core, this project is a bold declaration that hope is not lost and that the power to heal lies within each of us. By echoing a timeless plea for a better world, the Fremily is reminding us that the change we want to see can start with a single song.
