LAS VEGAS — With mental health still carrying deep stigma in many Filipino households, community advocates say the need to normalize conversations and expand access to culturally informed support has never been more urgent. Healthy Fil‑Am Nayon, a movement promoting holistic wellness among Filipino Americans, is responding by hosting its next community gathering focused entirely on mental well‑being.
The event, “Kapihan 2: A Space for Comfort, Conversation, & Mental Health,” is scheduled for Saturday, June 13, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon at 6655 S. Cimarron Rd., Las Vegas, NV 89113.

Organizers say the Kapihan format—coffee, conversation, and community—creates a familiar, low‑pressure environment where attendees can openly discuss stress, anxiety, caregiving, intergenerational expectations, and other challenges often kept private in Filipino families. The theme, “Navigating Mental Wellness: Conversation & Community,” underscores the group’s goal of making mental health part of everyday dialogue.
Healthy Fil‑Am Nayon has been expanding its wellness initiatives across Las Vegas, emphasizing that emotional and mental well‑being are essential components of a healthy lifestyle. The group hopes the Kapihan will help bridge cultural gaps and encourage Filipino Americans to seek support without fear or shame.
